There are a number of community projects underway in the village at any given time – each looking for volunteers, fundraising support and people to help raise awareness of their efforts. The Parish Council has funds to support such projects, if you are interested in applying please see the grants page for more information.
Here are some of the projects and community groups that have received funding. In addition to those listed below, we make contributions to upkeep of the Parish Hall.
|Stanstead Abbotts Local History Society (SALHS)||Email: firstname.lastname@example.org||The first comprehensive history of the village was published in 2013 with help from the Parish Council. ‘A History of Stanstead Abbotts, Rye House and St Margarets’ was published by SALHS. If you want to know about the village…read this book! The Society meets the second Friday of every month at the Parish Hall at 7.30pm and has a membership of over 100 people from the village. They welcome new members and have a lively programme of talks, visits and social events. Copies of the book can be purchased from Burtons or the village Pharmacy.|
